Preparing for Ivy’s Puppies: Birthday Celebrations and Final Prep

This week has been so wonderful!

Ivy enjoys her cooling mat

Ivy took a short trip to visit her Mimi and Grandpa, along with their dogs, Shelby and Brynlee. Every time she visits, she never forgets where Mimi keeps the treats—she heads straight to the closet and presses her nose against it. Naturally, she gets spoiled at her grandparents’ house!

Ivy’s getting really big, which is exciting, but she’s also a bit uncomfortable. She’s been favoring the cool wood floor over her usual spot on the couch. When Mimi heard about this, she was so sweet and bought Ivy a cooling mat! Ivy immediately plopped down on it and was clearly grateful. Thank you, Mimi!

Meanwhile, Storm had a fun week helping with gardening chores and munching on fresh apples from Solebury Orchards (we love them!). He also got a bath and is feeling fresh and clean!

Friday was Ivy’s birthday—she’s now 4 years old! She spent most of her day lounging, just the way she likes it. Later, we took her to Dairy Queen for a birthday treat. She was so excited that she jumped into the driver’s seat while I picked up her ice cream.

Ivy’s due date is September 8th, next Sunday! We’ve been busy getting everything ready, from buying supplies to make mother’s pudding to help with her milk supply, to receiving the little collars for the puppies, and printing all the tracking paperwork to monitor their growth. We’re in the final days, but we’re feeling well-prepared!

The only hiccup this week was a whelping box crisis. The one we used for Ivy’s last litter was starting to chip, so we sent it off to be refinished about a month ago. After weeks of silence, we found out they had misplaced the box and hadn’t even started! With time running out, we contacted EZ Whelp, who was incredibly helpful, and got a brand new, larger box. Though it was frustrating, it all worked out for Miss Ivy in the end.

We appreciate your prayers as we head into Ivy’s final week, hoping for a healthy and happy delivery for both mama and babies. We can’t wait to meet them! ❤️
